The most famous sightseeing of the area are the Pre-Byzantine Fortress in AgiosNikolaos, the settlement of Parthenonas in N. Marmaras, the Archaeological Site of Toroni, the Archaeological Site of Olinthos, the Archaeological Site of Akanthos, the Archaeological Site of Stagira (home of the great philosopher, Aristotle), the waterfalls of Varvara, the Tower of Prosforios and the Fragokastro in Ouranoupoli, the Byzantine Tower in Galatista, the Cave in Petralona, the Folk Museum in Afitos, the Archaeological Museum in Poligiros and the monasteries of PanagiaFilanthropini in Ormilia, OsiosArsenios in Vatopedi, and Timios Stavros in Metamorfosi. Men can visit the monasteries of Mount Athos for reflection and tranquillity (women are not allowed there).
The most famous beaches of the area are the following: RichoKaridi, VathiKaridi, the beach of Favas, Talgo, Lagonisi, TraniAmouda, Armenistis and Kavourotripes.
